HASELBERG, Mendel Peacefully, on Thursday, December 27, 2012 in his one hundred and first year. Beloved father and father-in-law of Cylia and Shel Bercovich, and stepfather of Hymie and Maida Anisman. Mendel was predeceased by his beloved wives Regina, z"l and Helen Anisman z"l, and by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Srulek Roth z"l and Sala Roth z"l. Mendel was the only survivor of his immediate family after the Holocaust, and he and Regina came to Montreal with their daughter in 1948. Mendel had a keen interest in politics, loved mountain climbing in his youth, and had a good sense of humour. In his later years he greatly enjoyed visiting the Rocky Mountains with all their wildlife. Special thanks and everlasting gratitude to his caregivers, Josephina and Natalia. Many thanks to the doctors and staff of the CLSC Cote-des-Neiges whose support allowed Mendel to be cared for at home. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, December 30, at 1:45 p.m. Burial at the Montreal Workers' Circle Section, Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane.
