Obituary MISHA WAJSMAN On Monday, October 13, 2008 at the age of ninety-one. Born in Lutsk, Poland on February 1, 1917, he fought with the Soviet Army during World War II and survived the darkest era in history. A life long activist for memory and witness of the Holocaust, he was also actively engaged in the struggle for Soviet Jewry. He was founding President of the Federation of Wolynian Jews in Montreal, and Vice-President of the Jewish Community Council. An avid athlete, he was table tennis champion in Moscow after the War. He immigrated to Canada in 1959 and will be remembered for his spirited determination to build the museum in Givataim, Israel, with his boyhood friends that commemorate Jews from the Wolyn district of Ukraine who perished in the Holocaust. His life was an inspiration to all he touched, but to none more so than, Dora, his wife who died in 1995, his son, Beryl, and his daughter-in-law, Nancy. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. on Thursday, October 16 at 9:30 a.m. Burial at the Zichron Kedoshim Congregation Cemetery, Anshei Ukraina Section, de la Savane.
