RUDY, Saul July 9, 1927 - August 10, 2018 Peacefully, loved by his family and friends, Saul Rudy passed away after a well-traveled journey, at the age of ninety-one. Beloved husband of Mildred Rubenstein for sixty-two years. He was a generous and loving father to Lewis (Amy), Robert (Kathy); a cherished and proud grandfather to Lauren, Samantha, Josh and Adam. As a third of a lifelong trio, he dearly loved his late twin brother Hershel and best friend, Stanley Epstein. Saul's life and passion always centered around his family and close friends and he especially treasured his bond with his grandchildren. He will be forever remembered for his quick and amazing wit, his charismatic and charming smile, and, of course, his complete loyalty to all Montreal sports teams. Born and raised in Montreal, at the age of fifty he risked it all to start AHF, a Montreal-based international textile manufacturer, and was respectfully described as a "gutsy entrepreneur". He was an active community member, serving in multiple leadership roles of the Cote Saint-Luc Senior Men's Club for more than fifteen years. The family would like to thank the outstanding care and comfort given by the entire geriatric staff of Jewish General Hospital, who not only cared for, but took the time to get to know this strong, witty and charming man. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. Burial at the Montreal Workers' Circle Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva private at Robert's home, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily through Wednesday evening. Donations in Saul's memory may be made to the Geriatrics Department c/o the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, (514) 340-8251. |
