RUBIN, Allan (Sonny) Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, in his ninety-fifth year. Beloved husband and best friend of Gilda Smolkin for sixty-five years. Cherished father and father-in-law of Margot and Gary Marcus, Marc Rubin and Andra Kaplan, Liana Rubin and Mike Martow. Treasured grandpa of Mitchell Marcus and Orrin Wolpert, Dara and Lorne Indig; Rebecca Rubin and Jordan Bohnen, Emily Rubin and Kourt Cwinn; Cara Martow and Jordan Derzawetz, Rayna, Eric and Melanie Martow. Adored great-grandfather of Eytan, Yael, Maya, Jenna and Theo. Brother and brother-in-law of the late Leon and the late Helen Rubin. Dear brother-in-law of George and Arlene Smolkin, the late Mickey and the late Ruth Smolkin. Special uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Dear son of the late Hettie and the late Hyman Rubin; and son-in-law of the late Ray and the late Charles Smolkin. Sonny will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched. Sincere gratitude to Fred for his wonderful care and support. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Wednesday, December 18 at 1:30 p.m. Burial at the Bassarabier Hebrew Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at his daughter Liana's home through Sunday afternoon.
