POWELL, Sarah (nee Medwedowsky) It is with deep sadness that the Powell, Lang and Rubenstein families announce the passing of their beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sarah Powell. After a heroic struggle with cancer, she died with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. She will be dearly missed by her family. Beloved wife of Gerry Powell. Devoted and loving mother and mother-in-law of Earl and Florine Powell, the late Rabbi Jake and the late Deborah Rubenstein. Most precious jewel and mother to Sandra (Cookie) and Irving Lang, and sister and sister-in-law of Renee and the late Dave Greenstein, and the late Howard Hymie Meadows. Adored and cherished Nana of Shira, Daniel, Orite, Jonathan, Samantha, and Yoheved Rubenstein; Sean Powell and fiancee Alicia Gallagher, Tamara, and Cassandra Powell; Andrew and Lisa, Darra, Lenny and Sherri Lang. Great-grandmother of Isaac, Bat-Sheva, Liana, Jake, Jesse Rubenstein; Harley and Arie Pesner; Sydney, Owen and Noah Lang. Daughter of the late Sam and the late Devorah Medwedowsky. Sister-in-law of Eta and the late Alec Powell, Mary and the late Leonard Powell. Special thanks to Dr. Jocelyne Martin and Dr. Donath of Notre Dame Hospital, and to Maria Lapuente who cared for her with loving care and was always by her side. Heartfelt thanks to Rabbi Michael and Marci Whitman for their support and devotion; they were always there for us. Funeral service and burial took place Wednesday, March 17. Shiva at 29 Cleve Rd., Hampstead, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily. Donations in her memory may be made to the Adath Israel Congregation, (514) 482-4252.
