STEPHEN HANNON It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Hannon in Kingston, on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, with courage and dignity, after a lengthy illness. Son of the late Hy and the late Bea Hannon. Brother of Evelyn Hannon and the late Joanie Hannon. Uncle of Erica and Leslie Ehm and their families. Devoted nephew of Min Codas. The director of Camp Kennebec for over forty years, Steve was a beloved friend and mentor, who had a tremendous impact on the lives of many. This was evident by the numerous visitors crossing many generations that all traveled to Kingston over the years to spend time with him. He had a keen ability to recognize the value and potential of each individual, particularly in recent years, when he realized his personal dream of a camp catering to those with special needs. His death is an insurmountable loss, but he has left a legacy that will live on forever. He will be greatly missed. We would like to thank the staff at Providence Care for their kindness to Steve. His friends wish to make a special acknowledgement to Donna Segal, Brian Garnier and Jay Aber for their outstanding devotion and commitment. They were a great source of comfort during his time of need. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Friday, February 26 at 1 p.m. Burial at the Independent Hebrew Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at Shelley Cohen's home, 5700 Queen Mary Rd., on Friday afternoon, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the "Steve Hannon Foundation" c/o Camp Kennebec, (613) 335-2114. |
