It is with great sadness that the family of David Botwinik (Dovid ben Arye-Leyb veRivka) announces his passing in Montreal. David was 101 years old, preceded in death by his wife Silvana Di Veroli Botwinik and son Morris Botwinik. David is survived by his children Riva Botwinik Pinchas, Leon (Leybl) Botwinik, Alexander (Sender) Botwinik and Jack (Yankl) Botwinik, and he was also a proud grandfather and great grandfather. He was best known as a staunch fighter and advocate for Yiddish as a living language, as a beloved choral director and music educator to many thousands of students over a period of 35 years, and for his brilliant skill in music composition.
