SZPINAK/SPINAK, Helena (nee Reizman) On Sunday, March 27, 2016 in Naples, Florida at the age of 96. She was the wife of the late Ignace Szpinak, most beloved mother and mother-in-law of Molly Spinak and Richard Hossack, and Anne and Lawrence Levin, cherished grandmother of Lorne, Ian, Stacey, Andrea, Robert and Joanna and great grandmother of Ezra, Abigale, Logan, Abilash, Amber, Bea, Crosby, Morgan and Owen. Sister and sister-in-law of the late Paul and Dorothy Szpinak. She survived the holocaust due to her smarts, bravery, beauty and quick thinking. Her incredible story was filmed for Shoah. Sadly, she lost almost everyone. Helena met her husband Ignace in Ottawa, where she worked for the Polish Trade Delegation after the war. Upon his death in 1963, she took over his complicated businesses and ran them for almost 40 years until she retired at the age of 72. She was committed to her family and was a most loving person. Our hearts are breaking and the sadness is almost unbearable at times -- a testament to how much she was loved. Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the doctors at Physicians Regional Healthcare, in Naples Florida, especially to Dr. Petal, Dr. Liu and Maureen, for their care and heart. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W. on Thursday, March 31 at 1 p.m. Burial at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva in Montreal on Thursday, after the burial, and Friday at 6500 Mackle Rd. Apt 704 then again on Sunday, April 3 from 1 to 5 p.m. at 23 Dodie Street, Aurora, Ontario (Molly) and 421 Tareyton, Richmond Hill (Anne) when we will celebrate this amazing woman.
