Obituary BOROD, Samuel Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in his ninety-eighth year. Devoted husband of the late Layah. Wonderful father and father-in-law of Frumi Rachel Barr, Manny Borod and Diana Henry. He adored his grandchildren Jeremy and Julie Tenser; Andrea and Ari Borod; Danielle and Cory Azzalino. He loved his sister Rivka Selchen, cousins Belva and Michael Thomas, sister-in-law Meta Surchin and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Aaron, sisters Sarah, Malka, Tova, Aliza and his brother-in-law Dr. Hy Surchin. Sam was our hero. He was an original member of the First Special Service Force (the Devil's Brigade) and recipient of the U.S. combat infantry badge, the U.S. Bronze Star Medal and the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for his service in Europe during World War II. He will be fondly remembered by all those whose lives he touched. Special thanks to the staff at Chateau Westmount for their exceptional care, and to Veteran Affairs Canada. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, May 10 at 12:00 noon. Burial at the Farband Labour Zionist Organization Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva private.
