STANLEY LYON SELINGER B.A, B.C.L, Dip D.C. (1939-2006) With great sadness we announce that Stanley died on Saturday, October 14, 2006, surrounded by his loving children and family, after a long illness. A graduate of Sir George Williams University, 1961, Osgoode Hall Law, 1962, McGill University 1965, and Coimbra University, Portugal, 1966, Stanley built a distinguished career in the practice of international law advising people and corporations around the world. Long active in the Jewish community, Stanley was instrumental in the relocation of the Montreal Jewish Nursing Home (Jewish Eldercare Centre) and served for many years as the President of its Board of Directors. " It has been a 22 year passion for me" he said at the time "and now I am about to realize a life-long dream of a modern home for the frail and elderly in our community." Stanley's greatest joy was in spending time with his three children, Tamara, Benjamin and Gabriel, with whom he shared an intimate and loving relationship. Stanley was the son of the late Edith (nee Balacan) and Julius Max Selinger, both of Montreal. He is survived by his children, Tamara, Benjamin and Gabriel, his wife Andrea Lockhart, his sister Laraine Isabella (Leo) and nephews Louis, Robert and Mark. The family wishes to thank the Montreal General Hospital and especially nurses Giselle, Kelly, Sandra and Louise for their excellent and compassionate care. Thanks also to Stanley's dear friends, and especially David Keeb, Cliff Thacker and Kelly Bennett for their caring support. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. on Monday, October 16 at 1:15 p.m. Burial at the Adath Israel Congregation Cemetery, de la Savane.
