SISKIND, Jacob The death of Jacob Siskind, the former music critic at the Ottawa Citizen, on September 17, 2010, marks the sad loss of a writer who set an exemplary standard for journalistic criticism. He was highly esteemed by musicians, critics and readers for the liveliness, insight and erudite scholarship which distinguished his reviews. They aired on CBC and were published in Montreal and Ottawa newspapers for nearly half a century. His acutely sensitive perceptions about performances and talent continue to be cited in musical biographies and contemporary reviews. A Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa, on Tuesday, September 21 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Baron De Hirsch Cemetery Montreal, Quebec.
